針對課綱爭議，民進黨總統參選人蔡英文31日晚間於臉書貼文強調，讓立法院做成決議，解決行政院因為調整課綱而引發的社會爭議，這是解決問題最直接、最快速的方法。

據了解，昨天黨中央聯絡立院黨團後，由立院總召集人柯建銘、政策會執行長段宜康及目前擔任蔡英文總部新聞攻防的英文系立委陳其邁到教育部前說明，民進黨將要求舉行立院臨時會，以決議方式解決問題，黨內幹部本規劃今天擴大輿情會議後，由蔡英文親自上陣說明，但為了避免給人過於政治對立的印象，最後由秘書長吳昭燮代打。

不過，蔡英文在晚間也發文說明昨天深夜至今民進黨處理經過，她表示，她昨天深夜取消了今天所有行程，一早從南部回到台北召集黨內幹部開會。會中也決議，全力支持黨團，以最大的力量促成臨時會在最短的時間內召開，讓立法院做成決議，解決行政院因為調整課綱而引發的社會爭議，這是解決問題最直接、最快速的方法。

蔡英文也說，已請立院黨團拜訪行政部門，務必盡一切努力，讓這個爭議快速落幕。民進黨呼籲朝野政黨共同為學生解決問題，讓他們安心回到校園。

蔡還說，對於年輕生命的驟逝，希望家屬能夠節哀。蔡還對學生喊話「年輕的同學們，你們是國家的未來，請務必要冷靜，珍惜生命，注意自己的安全。」「我們不希望社會因為這個爭議而對立，讓我們來共同面對，解決問題，我相信，這是社會上大多數人現在最期待看到的。」
